New Moon, anyone?

Raise your hand if yo went to see New Moon in theaters for the opening weekend...
No one? Come on, people, you don't have to be ashamed of it.

I went. To the midnight showing, actually. And I had a lot of fun.
I'm not a huge fan of Twilight. I used to be, and I lined up in the theater last year with tons of other fans to see the movie that would make a huge sum of money, and yet I found lacking in a lot of things, such as good acting. My obsession has waned and I credit that to the Twilight movie, which was pretty bad.

And yet I still went to the show on Thursday night a few hours before people would see it on the release date, Friday. There's something so exciting about being in a movie theater with legions of Twilight fans who are all waiting in anticipation for Rob Pattinson to grace the camera with his presence. When he came on the first time the movie watchers heaved a communal sigh. It was comical.

I sat there in my Harry Potter costume, giggling at the wrong moments and whispering to my sister beside me whatever comments crossed my mind. I enjoyed the movie.

Yes, there were parts that made me cringe and parts where I wanted Edward to just leave forever, but it was funny in some parts and it was better than Twilight and I think they made the book seem better. I hated New Moon, with Bella being so whiny and stupid, but in the movie it made it seem more real and understandable. And Taylor Lautner is just amazing.

That's all. I hope you have fun if you go to see the movie. As long as you don't expect too much when you go in, you probably won't be too disappointed. I might even go see it a second time :)

NanoWrimo!!!!

Do any of you guys know what NanoWrimo is?
If yes: YEA!!! I love meeting other Nanos!
If no: You are about to find out.

NanoWrimo is the short form for National Novel Writing Month. It is an event that goes on world wide every November since 1999. Writers, bestsellers and aspiring novelists alike, all attempt to write a 50,000 word, 75 page novel. Authors I know who are participating this month are Maureen Johnston (13 Little Blue Envelopes) and John Green (Paper Towns).

And, of course, me and my family.

Now, I know what you're thinking: something along the lines of 'You're insane! 50,000 words! In 30 days! What makes you think you can do that?'

Well, I love writing. I always have and I even have a little flash drive filled with the scribblings of a 13 year old self to the more poised (although no lessed crazed) 17 year old self.
And, if you really think about it, 50,000 words isn't that much. If you break it down, that's only 1,669 words a day, which roughly translates into 3 pages. I can do that in 2 hours, if I'm focusing, and I'm not even an accomplished typist.

So, I decided to take on the challenge to finish a novel in 30 days. And, so far, I'm pretty happy with my work. Sure, it's not going to win any awards for high class literature, but it's fun and I love it.

So, next year, when November rolls around, think about taking on the challenge of NanoWrimo. Or, if you're feeling ambitious, start now. We're only 5000 words in. 45,000 to go.

See ya in Book Club,

RM

J.K. Rowling: Sexist?

(warning: if you have not read Harry Potter the following blog entry might confuse you, you have been forewarned.)
Okay so I've been re-reading the Harry Potter series for the bazillionth time and just finished the forth which led me to an unexpected realization.
In the Triwizard tournament there are four champions, three guys and one girl. Throughout the tournament the one girl, Fleur, is repeatedly the worst at every task.
She is last with Cedric for the first task, then does not complete the second task, and in the final task she is like attacked and unable to defend herself. What's with that??
First why is there only one girl and second why does she seem to suck at magic?
Of course there are stronger female characters such as Hermione, Ginny and Luna, but some of the other female characters (ex. Lavender Brown) are less amazing than the males.
Have to dash. Ta.

untitled? oh wait... no.

Okay people since I have nothing I can think to write about I will make a public announcement for your medical health:
WASH YOUR HANDS. We are coming into the cold and flu season people and the best way to stay healthy is to keep viruses and germs off your hands. WASH THEM!
I really need to go outside. Sitting in the dark is doing bad things for me.
Well that was short but hopefully it will help you avoid infection this season. :-)

The Second Part

If you want to read the second part of the story below go to www.soccergirl15-mylife.blogspot.com

Short Story

It was two weeks before halloween and me and my bffls were picking out costumes, and thats when strange things started to happen. I was extremely bored sitting in the changing rooms, i was waiting for all my friends to try on their costumes. In the meanwhile i was staring at an old looking photo it looked vintage sort of. It was a women standing behind a man who was sitting on a old wooden chair, they looked kinda familiar. I was trying to think if i had ever seen this photo before. As I was stareing, quickly the eyes of the woman moved, in panic, i closed my eyes and looked again, nothing was different. It was probably all in my head. Just at that momment my friend popped out of the old rustic changing room.
"Tada" she yelled
She was probably dressed in the most stupidest thing i have ever seen.
" What are you supposed to be?" i asked
"Ummm i don't know" She replied
"But it has a red button"
"Seeeeee!"
She pressed the red button.
"Wow" I said.
"it does absoulutly nothing"
"I know, but it's cool anyways" She said.
I laughed and told her to change so we could pay for it.
That night Kelsey stayed over night since it was already 10 when we got home.
We were so bored that night that we went on msn at 12 midnight, one of my friends was online so i clicked on her.

Superchick993: Hey it's me and kelsy's over too!
Prettybird6687: Heyyy

Superchick993: i heard those things r kinda creepy
Prettybird6687: u never know unless u try
Superchick993: ok talk us through the steps on making one
Prettybird6687: ok step one.........
It had tooken us 20 mins, to make one and then we started.
"Ouiji board can you please contact a person beond the dead".
The triangle pointed to yes.
"Umm who is this" i asked.
The letters poined to I-T-H-I-N-K-Y-O-U-K-N-O-W-W-H-O-I-A-M
